Shidou
YNot backed by Y Combinator

One native app for all your coding agents.

Shidou drives the agent CLIs you already have — tasks, transcripts, tool activity, and checkpoints in one fast native desktop window, backed by a daemon on your machine.

Why native

Native down to the frame

Rust and GPUI — the GPU-accelerated framework behind Zed. Instant launch, smooth scrolling through years of transcript, no Electron.

Every agent, one timeline

Each agent is connected over its strongest native interface — stream-json, JSON-RPC, live events — and normalized into one provider-neutral model.

Rewind that means it

Git workspaces are checkpointed at turn boundaries under hidden refs. Rewind restores code and conversation for supported providers; Kimi Code and Fx do not support it. Mid-turn steers share the turn’s checkpoint.

Keyboard first

⌘N starts a task, ⏎ queues a follow-up while the agent works, ⌘⏎ steers it mid-turn, Escape stops. Use Ctrl instead of ⌘ on Windows and Linux.

Local by architecture

Projects, tasks, transcripts, and provider session IDs live on the computer running your daemon. No Shidou account is required. Configured desktop release builds share usage analytics by default, with an opt-out in Settings.

Quietly current

macOS builds are signed and notarized, with Sparkle updates and binary deltas when available. Windows verifies signed update installers. On Linux, rerun the install script to upgrade.
